Margie B. Douglass

Margie Douglass joined the Virginia Small Business Development Center at Southwest Virginia Community College as Program Manager in October, 2013. Prior to joining the SBDC, she served as Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator for the County of Tazewell, Virginia where she was employed for the last sixteen years.
In her role of Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator, she has successfully assisted a diverse group of new and expanding businesses, ranging from manufacturing to trail development with such types of assistance as site selection, identification of available resources and funds, and marketing.
Ms. Douglass has also worked with various local, state and federal government agencies such as the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Virginia Tourism Corporation, Virginia Tobacco Commission and Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority to assist start-up and expanding businesses.
She is a member of the Richlands Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and has served on several boards in various capacities including president of the Blue Ridge Travel Association, a regional marketing organization which promotes the tourism assets of the area, Vice Chairman of the Southwest Regional Recreation Authority, the organization charged with overseeing the development and management of the Spearhead Trail System within the region and Secretary of Ninth District Development Financing, an organization which provides financing for economic development and tourism projects. One of her great joys is teaching the primary class at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. Margie is married and the mother of two sons, and two grandchildren
